The Family Is Growing

Since the beginning of the year, we have been able to welcome three new children to the ACP Children's Village in Tanzania. This admission likely saved Demeli's life. The boy suffers from sickle cell anemia and is seriously ill. A hospital stay lasting several days with blood transfusions was necessary to keep him alive. But because medical care in his home village is inadequate, he probably would not have survived.

Another boy came to us from precarious circumstances. His mother, a sex worker, took him to bars at night. She was unable to provide her son with a suitable environment. Now he can call the children's village his home.

The children in our homes are cared for in groups of about ten by their “mothers.”

Here, they can grow up protected in a loving atmosphere. They experience a family-like life and develop the necessary social skills. But settling in isn't easy for everyone; most come with trauma.
