A Moment of Glory

The “Valley-wide Resurrection Day” at Dasharath Stadium became a powerful testimony to the unity of Christians in Nepal. Over 35,000 believers gathered to celebrate the life-changing power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The stadium itself holds about 25,000 people, but many more visitors gathered on the field.

The journey to the stadium together was particularly impressive: Christians from across the Kathmandu Valley set out from various directions—some walking for several hours. Singing, dancing, and carrying banners, the groups moved toward the stadium in a star-like formation.

There, they celebrated a large worship service featuring praise, a sermon, and creative performances. Thousands of voices rose to give glory to God. At the center was the message of the Gospel: Jesus lives and is the hope for Nepal. Together, the congregation prayed for peace in the country, for the government, and for God's blessing upon Nepal. Dances and songs also expressed how the Christian faith can be lived out within Nepalese culture.

But the public celebration did not go unnoticed. According to reports, Hindu politicians and other opponents spoke out in the media on that very same day. They called for tougher action against Christians and sought to prevent similar events in the future. The backlash was not long in coming.

This gathering was far more than a major event. It became a spiritual milestone that made visible how the church in Nepal is growing and courageously proclaiming the message of the resurrection. In a country where Christians repeatedly face pressure and restrictions, such a public confession of faith is highly unusual—and correspondingly encouraging.
