The Impact Endures
Bulos's journey on this earth came to an end on the steps leading to the hospital. Thousands mourned his death, even though our partner left behind neither a wife nor children. Nevertheless, he touched the lives of countless people. When a severe earthquake struck southeastern Turkey in February 2023, this dedicated Christian sprang into action immediately. He organized the construction of emergency shelters, providing housing for more than 1,000 homeless families. Afterward, Bulos remained actively involved in the reconstruction efforts.
Georgi, mentor to the tireless builder, is also a partner of ACP. Even well past his 80th birthday, the evangelist continued to distribute Bibles throughout the country, and new churches were established. The man from Moldova undertook numerous ministry trips with Bulos.
Foreign Christians out!
Since August, however, Georgi has been out of the country. After decades, the authorities decided to expel the itinerant preacher from his adopted homeland. Unfortunately, this decision is by no means an isolated case. The residence permits of 200 foreign Christians have already been revoked in recent months. Nevertheless, Georgi continues to distribute Bibles: New Testaments intended for Turkey are now finding their readers in a third country with a significant Turkish minority.
Turkey – what next?
Those Bibles already distributed remain in Turkey, and their impact can only be guessed at. “Many people have chosen a life with Jesus, including prisoners and law enforcement officers,” Georgi reports.
ACP is also advancing other projects in Turkey. Noteworthy is the work with Christians who have emigrated from Iran and are evangelizing among their compatriots in the diaspora. We accompany them, visit them on site, and provide financial assistance, as they often find themselves starting from scratch in their new homeland.
Another of our projects in Turkey is supporting a Christian congregation of Arab and Kurdish Syrians, together with our local partner. This partner also runs a Christian bookstore and is particularly active among students in spreading the biblical message.
