A Safe Place

Taking in two-and-a-half-year-old Demily presented a particular challenge, as he was diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia following emergency treatment. Two-and-a-half-year-old J., who was born HIV-positive, also found a new home at Agape Children's Village in early April, following a referral from social services.

At the home, the children receive medical care, loving support and a stable daily routine, which enables positive developments to take place. For some, progress is already visible in their behaviour, health and social integration. A few have even been able to join nursery school in the meantime.

The house mothers play a key role, accompanying the children in their daily lives and providing them with guidance. Their dedication forms the foundation for the children to stabilise and develop. To show their appreciation for this service, the five house mothers, together with the home's management, went on an outing to a national park. The time spent together offered an opportunity to take a break from the intense daily routine and recharge their batteries.

Developments over the past few months demonstrate just how crucial a reliable environment, Christian care and dedicated staff are in helping children from difficult backgrounds to find new stability and prospects.
