A Courageous Act of Peace
In May, thousands of people gathered in Southeastern Anatolia for simultaneous “Step for Peace” marches. The demonstrators called for justice and an honorable peace. Our Turkish partner was also there with a beautiful and equally courageous act: In the midst of the peace march, he and other members of his congregation marched as a church—not for political reasons, but as a statement for King Jesus. On their banner, they quoted the Bible.
Our partner reports: “The interest and love were overwhelming: People who saw the banner we unfurled during the march greeted our church with applause. The Bible verse we carried on our banner read: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God' (Matthew 5:9). The Bible verse, under which we also wrote the name of our church, was picked up by many television and print media outlets. More and more people in the Middle East are coming to know Jesus. We are doing our best to use every aspect of life to share the Good News with the people living here. And we are grateful when you pray for our church and our family.”
